Since 1993

Our Story

A fourth generation builder, Al Waddell has managed the construction of more than 1,400 homes in Charlotte, North Carolina and York County, South Carolina. Since becoming a founder of Waddell Homes, Inc. in 1993 and Waddell Custom Homes, LLC in 2012, Al has seen many changes and innovations in the home building process and he uses his expertise to continually improve design and workmanship of Waddell built homes.

Named Builder of the Year for both Charlotte and York County, SC, Al remains an active contributor to the industry and the community. Our approach is an evolutionary process and each home reflects what our own experience has taught us, what our clients have told us and what leaders in construction techniques and materials are recommending right now. The end product is a distinctive home as comfortable to live in as it is beautiful to look at.

In 2015, Stephen Plumb joined the firm and in 2022 became a partner and CEO of Waddell Custom Homes LLC. Stephen’s financial and construction background, along with his desire for excellence, adds immensely to the leadership of the company.
